Why would anyone want to make a watch by hand?

The goal of my watchmaking is to make works of art, fine mechanical kinetic art. Pieces of long term value that will not be thrown away in a couple of years. Heirlooms, tangible family history. To make something that people will want to have with them every day. To make individualised, handmade works of art that you can strap on your wrist and use to tell the time too.
To perpetuate a set of skills and the recognition that value is created through the use of skills.
Watchmaking is the dance of skilled finger-tips on willing metal.
